Martin van Zon is Board endorsed

One of my goals, if successfully selected to join the Board, would be to stimulate financial literacy for FirstOntario Credit Union members and future members. A post-COVID economic crisis is looming everywhere, yet levels of financial literacy across Canada remain worryingly low.

I believe that in times like these, FirstOntario, by sheer nature of being member-owned, can provide unparalleled financial services and compassion. As a member of FirstOntario (and its predecessors) since 1979 and owning my own successful business for four decades, it may allow me to provide a unique perspective in this regard.

What can you specifically contribute to the Board?

I have served on numerous Boards and Committees during my active career of 40 years, including Finance Committees, Executive Committees and as President or Chair.

My extensive experience in developing, leading and taking part in corporate planning, strategic planning, and providing strategic advices and recommendations to private and public institutions equips me to become a well-functioning and contributing member of the Board of Directors.
